Beach stage build, Thailand

The lineup is booked. Everything else is ours.

How we run a one night show on a public beach on the Andaman coast for a promoter who has confirmed the artists, sold the tickets and needs everything physical from a single contract. This is the full production module worked through from survey to strike: the stage, the sound, the lights, the power, the permits, the artist logistics and the budget, on sand, with a tide.

The brief

The promoter comes with a date, a beach and a lineup, and wants one number for everything else. No site team, no local supplier relationships, no Thai entity of their own. The audience is mostly flying in. A single night with an early evening open and a curfew agreed with the district, which sets the schedule for everything.

The ground

A public beach with a road behind it solves the access problem and creates a permit one, because a public beach means the district, the police, the marine office and the businesses along the road all have a say. Fine, deep sand. A tide line that moves a long way between the survey and the show, which the tables tell us in advance and the stage position is planned around. Power from two generators in a compound behind the road, with distribution run over the sand on stands.

What we build

A steel truss stage with a flown roof rated for the coastal wind, on ballasted bases with load spreading boards under the sand. A sound system sized for the beach with delays down the crowd line and a noise reading at the nearest business every hour. A lighting rig, lasers and flame effects through a licensed operator. Barriers, a front of house position, an artist compound in the venue behind the beach, bars and food built and powered by us and run by the promoter's partner.

On the paperwork side: district notification, police permit for crowd and sound, marine office consent for the beach, the temporary structure inspection and the noise agreement. On logistics: the artists and their teams move through the airport, the hotels and the site on a schedule that puts nobody in a car during the load in.

What we plan for

A public beach doubles the number of people who can say no, and each of them is met in person, early, with a drawing. The tide table is a design document. A one night show still gets a weather day in the build, because a coastal afternoon can put the wind above the roof's rating and the roof goes up the next morning instead. And the flame operator gets the fire officer's sign off in writing before the artist's team asks for more of it.

The module

This is full production: the promoter keeps the artists, the tickets and the audience, and everything physical, legal and logistical is ours. The same kind of ground is covered on the Phuket page and the wider coast on festival production in Thailand. For a build we have delivered on sand, with the numbers, see Chalong.
